Kowalik stands on head to get Team Christen its first victory!

It was a slow,"under attended" start to the play off season onTuesday Night as the two teams were forced to play four on four to kick off the Championship series.

"There was a pretty exciting Maple Leaf Match on the television device" responded one of the absentee players when asked of his whereabouts "if I missed it, perhaps my life would have stopped from continuing"

The white team, lead by defenseman Andrew Carter, spurted to a commanding five goal lead before allowing the Red Team to engage in a little catch up. When asked about the Red Team's slow start, team captain Gordon Lee had this to say

"The play-offs start tonight?"

Yes indeed Gord, and thanks to Video Replay Boy Jim Pearce, not a moment of it will ever be forgotten...

"carter, after allowing gord "the bowling ball " lee, in his comeback game after weeks off with a bad hip, to get one of his patented edge of the crease bang-ins, scored three goals, almost potting no. 4...both goalies got it together, ron especially, robbing lee on what looked like a sure thing pass in front of the net and stoning mark lewis on a snap glove save.[mark had earlier left ron's jock on the ice after a stunning breakaway deke,a gift of a slow defenseman on the white team[nameless-#27]

'white led clearly for the first half,after that the reds chipped away goal by goal, and ron kept white from losing it all. paul "hot car" swanson hit a blast from near the point high into the net, with a resounding "ping" off post or crossbar, or just from the bar at the back of the net maybe, but it was a great sound effect. livesay and pearce combined on a nifty little give and go[thru the legs on a spin around, return pass in front and a denial by tony, hugging the short side post.lots of up and down, corrigan denied time after time, ned unable to find twine at the other end. a harp laser, a couple of push-ins the defense didn't clear and there you go..[.score? 6 or 7 -5] depending who's talking. gord wooley his pesky self all night,chasse firing it up from the point, everyone giving up to 100% in a 4 on 4 test[although there were 2 subs red and 3 white!] why not play full compliment? i plumb do not know"

Play resumes next week, hopefully with a little more bench strength on both sides
